Today was 100th day for the boys school. They were supposed to dress up as a 100 year old person. When he gets teary eyed asking if the makeup can be removed right away after school because boys don’t wear makeup then I knew to just let him go as himself. He thought he had to because of school. I told him he didn’t have to. (Please note he’s the same boy who carries superhero toys in a purse. He’s well balanced just doesn’t like makeup and I get that. I don’t like makeup a lot of the times either.)
The photo today is of what the boy wore for this big day. Nope not a single ounce of old man showing and this is what I learned and observed from the day’s events.
- If he doesn’t want to wear makeup and dress up there’s no reason to force him. It only frustrates all involved.
- He’s right. He’s young why would he want to dress up like someone old. He’s too young for that.
- There’s less clean up at bedtime when no makeup on a five year old is involved.
- He still had a great day! He was so excited to tell me about his day. It was a win/win for all.
Until tomorrow…
